A 35-year-old man who jumped into Chorha (Rampur) nullah at Kumhari to rescue three persons stranded in a farmhouse was washed away on Saturday morning. The authorities carried out a search and rescue operation but the man, identified as Rajesh Banjare, could not be traced till late Saturday evening. Meanwhile the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued three workers including a woman and two men stranded in the farmhouse. Three goats present in the farmhouse were also rescued by the SDRF team.

District Commandant of SDRF Nagendra Kumar Singh informed that after hectic efforts those stuck in the farmhouse due to flooding of nullah were taken out in a rescue boat. Life jackets were also used so as to ensure that the stranded persons are shifted to safer places without any risk. Those rescued included Vasu, Tribhuvan and Bhoomi. He said that Banjare, who also resided in the same village, had jumped into the nullah saying that he will rescue those stranded in the farmhouse but he was swept away and the search operation was stopped in the evening due to poor visibility. Commandant Singh said that the SDRF is on alert mode and is keeping a vigil in sensitive areas from where flood like situation is usually reported. He said that upon receiving information regarding people stranded near Kumhari, the SDRF responded promptly and rescued three persons successfully.
