SAGAR : A case of four people committing suicide has come to light at a house on a farm in Tehar village under Rural Police Station of Khurai Tehsil of Sagar district. The incident is said to have taken place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The reason for the suicide is not yet clear, the police has started investigating the case. It was revealed that the family members had consumed sulphas.
According to the information, Manohar Lodhi (45) was living at a farm house near Tehar village with his mother Phoolrani (70), daughter Shivani (18) and son Aniket (16). His wife had gone to her parents’ house a few days ago.
On Friday night, Manohar's brother, who also lives on the upper floor, rushed down after hearing the sound of vomiting.
He saw the whole family vomiting and informed other family members. The police was
immediately called and with the help of the villagers, everyone were taken to the hospital.
During this, Phoolrani and Aniket died on the spot. Shivani passed away at Khurai hospital, while Manohar died on the way to the district hospital. Manohar's brother Nandram told that his brother lives on the second floor of the house built in the field.
At night, after hearing the sound of loud coughing from downstairs, he went and saw the whole family was vomiting. He immediately informed the people around.
Manohar and Shivani were taken to hospital, while mother Phoolrani and Aniket had died on the spot. Later Shivani died in the civil hospital and brother Manohar died on the way while being taken to the district hospital. Deceased Manohar has three more brothers. One brother who is intellectually disabled lives with Manohar in the house built on the field. At the same time, two brothers live in the village.
Govind, Jagdish and Nandram were three brothers and Manohar was the youngest among them. Intellectually disabled Jagdish lived with his brother Manohar in the house built in the field, he is not married.
Son Aniket was a student of 9th standard while his daughter Shivani was studying in the first year of college.
Manohar was a prosperous farmer of the village, he had 3 acres of land in which he had planted soybean crop. In such a situation, why did he committed suicide. Khurai Urban Police Station In-charge, Yogendra Singh Dangi said that four members of a family have committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance. In the primary investigation, the poisonous substance seems to be sulphas. The reason for suicide can be family related. Postmortem of the bodies is being done and after this, statements of the family will be taken.
