In an effort to ensure smooth and safe traffic movement across Bhopal, Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh carried out an on-ground inspection of several key intersections in the city on Monday. The visit aimed at assessing the present traffic conditions and identifying areas needing urgent structural and regulatory improvements. The inspection covered major traffic points including District Court Chauraha, 7 Number Chauraha, 1250 Chauraha, Platinum Plaza, and the 11th Mile area. During the visit, the Collector was accompanied by CEO of District Panchayat Ila Tiwari, ADM Ankur Meshram, ACP Traffic B S Kol, and other senior civic and traffic officials. Collector Singh emphasised that providing citizens with a safe and uninterrupted commuting experience is a top priority for the administration.

He directed that all identified black spots (accident-prone areas), left-turn corridors, and traffic signal points must be structurally upgraded, and that strict adherence to traffic discipline be enforced. He issued clear instructions for co-ordinated action between the Traffic Police, Municipal Corporation, and Public Works Department (PWD). “Any negligence or delay in traffic management will not be tolerated,” he asserted. Singh also instructed officials to complete all assigned tasks within the set deadlines. The measures to be implemented include: n Installation and repair of traffic signals n Construction of dedicated left-turn lanes n Building and painting of dividers, zebra crossings, stop lines, road markings, and signage n Construction of speed breakers and rumble strips Special attention is to be given to identified black spots, where safety upgrades must begin immediately to prevent accidents and ensure road safety for all commuters.
