THE Supreme Court on MondaygrilledAllahabad High Court’s Justice YashwantVarmaforchallenging findings of aninhouse inquiry panel report against him over the incident of cash discovery from his officialresidence and asked how could he question it after participating in the process. The in-house inquiry panel report indicted JusticeVarma over the discovery of huge cache ofburnt cash from his official residenceduring his tenure as a Delhi HighCourt judge. A bench comprising Justices Dipankar Datta and A GMasih asked Justice Varma whydid he wait for the inquiry to becompleted and the report bereleased.

Did you come to the court that the videoberemoved?Whydidyou wait for the inquiry to be completed and the report be released?Didyou takeachance of a favourable order there first (sic),” a bench of Justices DipankarDatta and A GMasih asked Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, who was representing Justice Varma. Sibal said the appearance before the committee couldn’t be held against him.
