Residents of Swavalambi Nagar are grappling with severe inconvenience as road construction in the area remains incomplete for nearly two months. The main road was dug up for pipeline installation, but the work has since come to a halt, leaving the entire stretch in
disarray.
Several parts of the road have been dug right in front of people’s homes, making access extremely difficult. Piles of bricks, scattered gravel, and unattended wheelbarrows have been left lying around, adding to the disruption.
The lack of proper safety measures, including loosely tied caution tapes, poses a significant risk to commuters, especially those on two-wheelers.
Adding to residents’ concerns is a tuition centre situated close to the affected road. Parents fear that children walking or cycling to classes could be injured due to the hazardous conditions. With the road narrowed and uneven, traffic congestion has also become a daily issue.
Citizens are demanding immediate intervention from civic authorities to resume and complete the road work without further delay.
The delay not only causes daily hardship but also raises serious concerns about public safety and accountability. Locals insist that a long-term solution is
urgently needed to prevent such lapses in future.
Many residents have expressed
frustration over the lack of updates or communication from the concerned departments.
Senior citizens and persons with disabilities are especially affected, as the temporary pathways are neither safe
nor accessible. Despite repeated
complaints, no visible progress has been made.
