The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) Nuisance Detection Squad fined Swarajyam S & M Hospital Rs10,000 for spreading garbage within its premises in Laxmi Nagar Zone. The action was part of a larger cleanliness enforcement drive conducted across the city on July 24.
Under the leadership of Squad Head Virsen Tambe, a total of 51 violations were recorded in a single day, resulting in Rs 51,100 in fines. Offenses included public urination, littering, spitting, and the use of banned plastic bags under 79 microns. Twenty vendors and hawkers were fined Rs 8,000 for maintaining unhygienic surroundings.
An individual was fined Rs 100, and three shopkeepers were fined Rs1,200 for dumping waste in public spaces.
Sixteen people faced penalties worth Rs 17,000 for obstructing roads with unauthorized structures like pandals and stages. Three were fined Rs 3,000 for washing or tying animals in public places. In addition to this, fine of Rs 11,800 was collected from individuals and institutions for various other nuisances.
The municipal authorities also imposed fime of Rs 10,000 on a marriage hall owner for failing to meet National Green Tribunal directives.
Further fines included Rs 5,000 to Shammi Khan (Dharampeth Zone) for dumping tyres; Rs 5,000 to Rameshwaram Celebration Hall (Hanuman Nagar); Rs10,000 to Sindhu Associates (Dhantoli) for dumping construction waste; and Rs 5,000 each to Telrandhe Kirana Shop (Gandhibagh) and Krishna Sweets (Satranjipura) for using banned plastic bags. Naresh Dairy (Lakadganj) was fined Rs 10,000 for blocking a chamber with food waste.
