Rutva-Shourya wins mixed doubles crown

 

 

SHUTTLERS of ACE Badminton Academy, Rutva Sajwan, Shourya Madavi and Hridaan Singh put up an excellent show at the recently concluded State Sub-Junior Selection Badminton Tournament in Pune. Rutva and Shourya teamed up to win the gold in U-17 Mixed Doubles. In the final, the pair defeated second seeded pair of Ojas Joshi and Tanvi Gharpure 21-16, 18-21, 21-18 to win the gold. In the in U-17 singles final, Rutva lost to third seed Sachet Tripathy 7-21, 21-18, 19-21 to settle for silver. Unseeded Hridaan Singh got the better of 5th and 3rd seeded players before losing to the top seed Vishvajeet Thavil 16-21, 9-21 in the semi-finals to earn 3rd position. Rutva, Shourya and Hridaan are undergoing training under coaches Ashish Rajput and Ganesh Shahu at the ACE Badminton Academy at YMCA.
