AS MANY as eleven young fencers from Nagpur will participate in the 17th Mini and 6th Child National Fencing Championships to be held from July 5-7, informs Mohd Shoeb, Secretary, Nagpur Fencing Association. The event will be jointly organised by Maharashtra Fencing Association and Nashik Fencing Association. The players have been selected on the basis of their excellent performances in the recently held State competition. Team: Under-10 girls: Vaidehi Bankar, Poorva Dhote (both foil event). Under-10 boys: Ahant Gajghate. Under-12 girls: Isha Khadatkar (foil), Divyanshi Dharpure (sabre), Kavya Shirke (epee), Shreya Pusnake (epee), Vihana Surkar (foil), Advik Bansod (foil), Ananya Mane (sabre), Gaural Shirsagar (sabre). All the players gave credit of their success to parents and coaches — Rahul Mandavkar, Sagar Bhagat, Aavesh Somkuwar. Nagpur District Fencing Association President Ajay Sontakke, Shoeb and Treasurer Suresh Hazare wished all the players good luck.
