Cyber Crime Police in Bhopal have arrested Nabeel Siddiqui, accused of defrauding individuals of Rs 8 lakh by promising jobs at Amazon. Siddiqui allegedly cheated several people using fake joining letters and false promises. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Harinarayanachari Mishra, Commissioner of Urban Administration and Development, Pankaj Srivastava, Akhil Patel, and Shailendra Singh Chauhan, and led by Sujeet Tiwari. On March 11, 2024, Salman Khan, a resident of Panna Nagar, Karond, lodged a complaint at Nishatpura Police Station, alleging that Nabeel Siddiqui had defrauded him and his acquaintances of Rs 5 lakh by promising jobs at Amazon. During the investigation, two other complaints surfaced, revealing a total fraud of Rs 8 lakh. On July 30, 2024, Cyber Crime Police registered a case under sections 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and initiated an investigation.
Police investigation revealed that Nabeel Siddiqui had previously worked as a telecaller at Amazon.
He duped the complainants by offering them recruiter positions in Pune.
He sent fake joining letters from a fraudulent email ID and collected Rs 10,000 from each individual in his bank account under the guise of interviews. When asked about the joining date, he consistently made excuses and delayed. The accused had been absconding for the past year and also advertised job opportunities among his acquaintances.
Based on technical analysis and evidence, Cyber Crime Police identified Nabeel Siddiqui and arrested him from the Kamala Park area of Bhopal. A mobile phone, SIM card, and banking applications used in the fraud were seized from his possession. Police stated that interrogation of the accused is ongoing, and efforts are underway to trace other involved individuals.
