Inquiry was being conducted against Dr Datarkar as students had levelled allegations
Government Dental College and Hospital (GDCH) Dean Dr Abhay Datarkar has been transferred to Jalgaon Dental College. Though the letter of transfer does not specify any reason, Dr Datarkar was facing enquiries in some matters. Meanwhile, Government has given the charge of Dean to Professor and Head of Periodontology Department Dr Mangesh Phadnaik.
Congress MLA and former Minister Dr Nitin Raut had raised some issues on the floor of the State Assembly that included the complaints from students.
Dr Abhay Datarkar had denied all the allegations.
Students and staff members had alleged that Dr Datarkar used to harass them. Many students also accused Dr Datarkar of deliberately failing some final BDS students.
Allegations were also levelled against Dr Datarkar of asking students to work in his office. In the written complaint, students had pointed out that in the name of teaching advanced education, money was collected. Dr Raut had accused that students were marked absent for not adhering to the ‘college rules’.
Later, Dr Datarkar had submitted his clarifications and refuted all the charges.
The Jalgaon Dental College has been established this year and its Under Graduate (BDS) batch
will start taking classes. It is
affiliated to Jalgaon Medical College. In Nagpur, Dr Datarkar
is guiding several Post Graduate students who may face trouble. Under his leadership, various new projects were started. The new building of Superspeciality Dental Courses is being constructed.
The college stood first in the country to set up a simulation laboratory. The college kept getting recognition on various fronts after
Dr Datarkar took charge of Dean. It got top ranking by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
