A strong weather system has intensified rainfall activity over Madhya Pradesh, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings across several districts for the next four days. Two trough lines and a cyclonic circulation are currently active, contributing to the widespread showers and thunderstorms.
In the forenoon hours,
moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by lightning, is likely to continue over Vidisha/Udayagiri, Sagar, Narsingpur, Chhindwara, Ashoknagar, Damoh, Katni, Jabalpur/Bhedaghat/AP, Seoni, Mandla/Kanha, Dindori, Anuppur/Amarkantak, and Balaghat. Light rain has also been reported from Guna,
South Shivpuri, Narmadapuram/
Pachmarhi, Betul, Raisen/Sanchi/Bhimbetka, Bhopal/Bairagarh\_AP, Rajgarh, Khandwa, Harda, Tikamgarh, and other adjoining regions. Wind speeds during recent thunderstorms were notably high, with Ujjain recording 44 kmph, Pachmarhi 37 kmph, and Jabalpur 37 kmph, among others.
Mandla District: Overflowing river halts traffic, sweeps a car along
Continuous rainfall has caused rivers and streams in Mandla district to swell dangerously. On the Chikhli-Ponia route, a car was swept away by gushing water, highlighting the severity of the situation. Locals are advised to avoid travel on submerged or low-lying routes. Bhopal: Rain Likely to Intensify: In the state capital Bhopal, moderate rainfall with lightning is expected through the day. The IMD has forecast heavy rain activity to continue, supported by the strong weather systems active over the region. Citizens are urged to stay alert and avoid unnecessary movement.
An Orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Dindori, Shivpuri, and Guna. Katni, Maihar, Umaria, Shahdol, and Anuppur are also under heavy rain watch, raising fears of flood-like situations in low-lying areas.
