In a major initiative aimed at supporting digital learning, the Madhya Pradesh Government has transferred over Rs 235 crore to 94,234 Class 12 students under its laptop incentive scheme. Each eligible student who scored 75% or above in the 2024-25 academic session has received Rs 25,000 directly into their bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). At a State-level ceremony held at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav addressed students and announced that from next year, updated laptops will be distributed instead of cash. He handed over laptops to 15 top-performing students during the event. Dr Yadav underlined the importance of providing students with access to digital tools to enhance their readiness for modern education and competitive exams. He highlighted that 60% of the beneficiaries were girls, and that the scheme has benefitted over 4.32 lakh students in the past 15 years, with a total expenditure of Rs 1,080 crore.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that Government schools have recorded a higher pass rate than private schools this year, 52% versus 48%. He stated that the government supports students in higher education as well, covering full tuition fees for medical and engineering aspirants. The laptop scheme, launched in 2009, has evolved significantly—initially requiring 85% marks for eligibility and benefiting only 500 students in its first year. This year alone, 49,000 students from government schools and 44,000 from private institutions received the benefit. The ceremony was livestreamed across all districts in MP. Organ and body donors to be honoured: Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said that the Government has recently decided to promote organ and body donation. Donors’ families will be honoured at state-level events on January 26 and August 15. He announced that body and organ donors will be given a Guard of Honour at their final farewell, calling such donations acts of immortality. Speaking as special guest, Dr Kunwar Vijay Shah, Minister of Tribal Affairs, Public Asset Management, and Bhopal Gas Relief, informed that the government has approved Rs 25 crore per division for building 100-seat hostels for tribal students preparing for national-level exams.
