FOUR members of a family from Umred in Nagpur district lost their lives while the driver was critically injured when their Ertiga car met with a horrible accident in Washim district on Samruddhi Expressway on late Thursday night. Members of the Jaiswal family of Umred were travelling back from Pune after attending a family function. At around 7 pm, when the vehicle reached near Channel No 215, between Wanoja and Karanja in Washim district, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into the divider.

 

Two passengers died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries during treatment. The deceased have been identified as Vaidehi Jaiswal, Madhuri Jaiswal, Sangeeta Jaiswal, and Radheshyam Jaiswal. Driver of the vehicle Chetan Helge sustained critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. Upon receiving information of the accident, rescue teams from the Samruddhi Expressway and local police rushed to the scene. Mangrulpir Police conducted the initial investigation and launched a formal probe into the incident. Local authorities are urging vehicles to exercise caution while driving, especially on expressways.
