CA Nitin Alshi while addressing members of the Vidarbha Management Association (VMA) at the weekly session held at Chitnavis Centre in the city on Sunday said that one should keep a check on business health for consistent growth. Alshi was speaking on the theme “Is Your Business Fit? A Health Check for Organisational Success.” CA Alshi highlighted that key indicator such as growth in sales and profit, cash flow availability, asset and operational efficiency, compliance levels, team capabilities, competition, and cost management collectively determine an organisation’s overall health.

Illustrating the significance of a structured approach, he noted that if marketing efforts are falling short, businesses must systematically evaluate factors like the existence of a marketing policy, clarity in business models, sales strategies, brand positioning, customer relationship management, customer concentration, and retention and satisfaction levels.

On sales, he advised entrepreneurs to balance passion for their products with a realistic assessment of market dynamics and be prepared for the risks posed by new entrants. He encouraged business owners to identify revenue-generating areas as well as segments lagging in performance. Equally important, he stressed, is operational health—ensuring process optimisation, well-defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), efficient resource planning and utilisation, performance management through KPIs, and continuous upskilling of teams. He also underlined the necessity of financial health checks covering revenue growth, profit margins, asset quality, short-term liquidity, and long-term solvency to sustain financial stability. The session was moderated by Alok Dhotekar, with Rajesh Sharma serving as session in-charge. The Vidarbha Management Association is a proactive organisation dedicated to management learning, convening every Sunday at 10:30 am.
