Regional Transport Office (RTO) is always in the news for wrong reasons. But its well thoughtout actions never get highlighted. Take the example of RTO’s office at Nagpur. It has created a driving testing track which has a lot of potholes. This shows the visionary approach of this license issuing office. The officers know a driver is likely to use not-so smooth road. If one passes the driving test on the track full of potholes, the driver would be well prepared for the real world. The RTO’s driving testing track is a true reflection of the roads that lie ahead. While the candidate gets tested for driving skills, the testing track simultaneously tests the vehicle’s suspension, so it seems. The potholes on the track have become an integral part of the driving test. It’s about navigating through craters and dodging uneven road surfaces.

The examiners seem to have a new criterion for evaluating drivers – can he or she survives the bumps without losing cool? The driving test has transformed into a ultimate test of patience, skill, and vehicle durability. When one faces test on such a track full of potholes, who needs smooth roads when one can have a realistic driving experience. The thrill of driving on this testing track of Regional Transport Office– where the real test is surviving the potholes! The examiner’s eyes are on the driving skill, but the vehicle’s tires are praying they don’t hit another crater. Nobody needs driving skills when one can navigate obstacles. Sarcasm aside, the RTO’s driving testing track is in a bad condition. The recent rains exposed the condition of the track.

It seems that the track is maintained in a casual manner. This also shows that RTO is unlikely to be serious while inspecting driving skills. As drivers weave through the track’s potholes, they’re not just demonstrating their driving skills; they’re also showcasing their ability to think on their feet – or rather, on the accelerator. RTO seems to think that the candidate if can drive on this track, you can drive anywhere. And who knows, maybe the potholes are a metaphor for life’s unexpected bumps. The real question is, are they preparing drivers for the roads or preparing roads for the drivers? Either way, one thing is for sure – the drivers who pass this test will be well-equipped to handle the challenges that lie ahead, one bump at a time.
