The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh, has released a revised schedule for NEET UG state-level counselling, shifting the MBBS seat allotment date to August 18, which was earlier scheduled for August 6. The rescheduling has been done due to the postponement of the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling, prompting the state to extend its own deadlines. Along with the new schedule, the registration portal has been reopened, allowing new candidates to register and edit their profiles till August 11.
The revised State merit list will be released on August 12, followed by choice filling and seat locking from August 13 to 15. Seat allotment will take place on August 18, and candidates
allotted a seat will be able to take admission in the respective colleges between August 19 and 23.
Officials have confirmed that this decision aims to ensure candidates are not affected by the delay in the national counselling schedule. With the reopening of registration, the number of participating candidates is expected to increase. Over 15,000 candidates had registered in the earlier phase, and the new window is likely to add more names to the list. Based on this, a new state merit list will be prepared.
Madhya Pradesh currently has a total of 4,775 MBBS seats, and this revised schedule will govern the allocation process for all of them. The DME has advised all eligible candidates to complete their registration and choice filling within the given time frame to avoid missing out. This extension is especially beneficial for students who missed the initial deadlines or have recently become eligible. Counselling officials also mentioned that once the allotment is done, students must report to the allotted college within the stipulated time; failure to do so could result in the cancellation of their seat.
The revised schedule is expected to bring more clarity, flexibility, and fairness to the overall counselling process.
