 In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Raipur Zonal Unit, has secured convictions for two accused involved in large-scale drug smuggling. The court of the First District and Additional Sessions Judge, Janjgir, found both guilty under the NDPS Act. The case stemmed from a joint operation by NCB’s Indore Regional Unit between September 9 and 13, 2023, in which 132.567 kg of cannabis was seized from multiple locations across Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra,
 
Haryana, and Delhi. Investigations revealed that the contraband was sent through parcels using fake names and addresses. Primary accused Anand Kumar Kashyap (resident of Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh) has been sentenced to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 1.5 lakh for drug trafficking. He was also convicted under relevant sections of the
 
IPC and IT Act for forging PAN and Aadhaar cards. Additionally, Rs 2.01 lakh in his bank account has been frozen by SAFEMA, Mumbai. Co-accused Narendra Kumar Prajapati (resident of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan) has been sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment and fined Rs 50,000. NCB stated that the convictions underscore its commitment to achieving a drug-free India thorough investigation and prosecution. Citizens have been urged to report drug-related activities to the national narcotics helpline 1933, assuring complete confidentiality of informants’ identities.
