Record 12,000 electric vehicles sold in Chhattisgarh in 24-25

 Under the Electric Vehicle Policy of Chhattisgarh, to promote about electrical vehicle utility and sale, the transport department organised a meeting with executives of automobile companies at Mahanadi Bhawan on Thursday. The main objective of this scheme is to install more charging points with the support of these automobile companies across different parts of Chhattisgarh. S Prakash, Secretary of Transport Department in Chhattisgarh presided over the meeting and threw lights on charging stations in State.
 
In meeting, officials of Chhattisgarh Transport Department informed that at present, there are 290 charging stations across state and over 1.49 lakh electric vehicles were registered at various RTOs of the state. They also informed that to increase the number of charging stations, the department had conducted meetings with petrol pump owners and got success as many of the pumps had installed charging stations in their premises. Over 50 percent of charging stations at state are available only in three districts of state, Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur and in many districts of the state, there is shortage of charging stations. Owing to shortage of charging stations, electric vehicle owners in these areas avoid to travel in long routes.
 
Therefore, on the basis of requirement, more charging stations would be installed. To motivate it, transport department also provides subsidy in installation of charging stations. In the meeting, officials informed that, currently state has 600 registered electric vehicle dealers and department has made mandatory for them to install charging stations at their showrooms and workshops. In 2024-25, over 12600 electric vehicles were sold out at entire Chhattisgarh and it has achieved the target of electric vehicle policy of state. Executives of automobile companies informed that during sale of electric vehicle, through the medium of mobile app, companies provide information about locations and availability of charging stations in area. In meeting, Additional Commissioner, D Ravishankar Prasad, Joint Transport Commissioner, UBS Chouhan, Manoj Dhruv, Deputy Transport Commissioner and other officers of the department were also present.
