THE Nagpur Traffic Police have announced
new rules to control traffic jams caused by
private travel buses in the city. From August
20, private travel buses in Nagpur will be
banned from picking up, dropping off, or
parking on the Inner RingRoad anditsinside
radius between 8 am and 10 pm. They will
be allowed to operate only from their own
private parking spaces, as part of new traffic
measures to ease congestion in the city.
Nagpurhasnearly30lakhpeople,withabout
20 lakh two-wheelers and 5 lakh four-wheelers on the roads. Development work and
increasing traffic has led to serious congestion, especially during rush hours.
Narrow
roads and large buses stopping in busy areas
cause traffic jams, air pollution, and noise
pollution.
From August 13 to September 12, 2025,
police will monitor bus activities. Parking in
“NoParking” zones outside the ring road will
also be banned. Private bus owners must
inform passengers, update websites, and
arrange alternative stops within seven days.
Those who break the rules will face action
under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code

Lohit Matani has requested drivers to cooperate for smoother traffic and reduce inconvenience to the public.

Square, Baidyanath Square, Vijay Talkies
Square, Cotton Market Square, Gitanjali
Square, Rahate Colony Square, Bhole Petrol
PumpSquare,Ravi Nagar Square,Sakkardara
Square,DighoriSquare,ChhatrapatiSquare,
Hindustan Colony, Indora Square, Automotive Square, and others often see illegal pick-ups
and drops by private buses.
On major routes such as
WardhaRoad, AmravatiRoad,
Jabalpur Road, Chhindwara
Road, Bhandara Road, and
UmredRoad,busesstopwherever they like and increae risk
of mishaps.
Where buses can
park now
SOME operators like Saini,
Mahatma, Baba, Sawan, Maa
Durga,andKhuranahavetheir
own parking spaces. Others
use pay-and-park facilities.
Passengers can reach new
stops outside the Inner Ring
Road using metro,taxis, autorickshaws and other public
transport.
Exceptions to rule
THE ban does not apply to
MSRTC buses, company
employee buses (with permission), wedding or private
function buses (with permission),ambulances,emergency
vehicles, school buses, senior
citizen/women’s special buses, and religious pilgrimage
buses.

no official parking and block narrow roads.
