Nagpur’s Group Captain Vishwas Ashok Jamkar and Major Prashil Pravin Dhomney from Ramtek taluka have made the region proud by winning distinctive honours.
Group Captain Vishwas Ashok Jamkar a fighter pilot of Indian Air Force (IAF) and Major Prashil Pravin Dhomney of 19 Madras received the Mention-in-Despatches for their contributions in the Operation Sindoor from President of India Droupadi Murmu,
on Friday.
Gp Capt Jamkar is an alumnus of Bhavan’s BP Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, and a former Vidarbha cricket player.
During Operation Sindoor, Major Prashil was deployed at the Line of Control (LOC) in the Poonch sector. He was directly involved in the operation.
Maj Dhomney was also deployed in Siachen and also commanded an unit during Kerala floods.
President Murmu announced 127 gallantry awards and 40 distinguished service awards for soldiers guarding the country’s borders.
The President has also approved 290 Mention-in-Despatches – 115 personnel
of the Indian Army, 5 of the Indian Navy, 167 of the Indian Air Force and 3 of the Border Roads Development Board (BRDB).
