A District Reserve Guard (DRG) constable was martyred and three other personnel were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast carried out by Maoists in the National Park area of Bijapur district on Monday morning. The team was on an anti-Naxal operation when the IED detonated. Officials have confirmed that the three injured personnel are in stable condition and are being evacuated for advanced medical care after receiving primary treatment. The mortal remains of martyred Constable Dinesh Nag were brought to the Shaheed Vatika at the Reserve Centre in Bijapur, where he was presented with a Guard of Honour.

Numerous dignitaries, including MLA Vikram Mandavi, IG Sundarraj P, and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, paid homage to the fallen constable. In a statement, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his profound grief over the incident, stating that the act was a result of the Maoists’ frustration with the ongoing anti-Naxal operations in the Bastar region. He asserted that the sacrifice of Dinesh Nag won’t go in vain and that the Government’s resolve to eradicate Naxalism remains firm.
