Key BJP cells, morchas to be restructured as terms expire, chairs remain vacant

After months of political speculation and internal build-up, the much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle and BJP organisational revamp in Chhattisgarh now appears inevitable. The sequence of events on Friday-starting with BJP State President Kiran Singhdeo’s departure for Delhi, followed by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s strategic meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah-has effectively broken the suspense over the party’s upcoming shake-up.

BJP insiders confirmed that the two critical exercises—cabinet expansion and state unit restructuring-will be executed in parallel, with formal announcements expected within the next 20 days. As per indications, two new ministers will be inducted into the state cabinet, while the party will fill key vacant organisational posts, including seven morcha heads, 30 cell presidents, and two state general secretaries. The impending reshuffle comes at a time when BJP’s Chhattisgarh unit is facing structural fatigue. Several posts across Morchas, Prakoshts (cells), and district-level units are either vacant or being held by officials whose terms have lapsed. A sense of unease had begun to spread among grassroots workers due to the delay, especially as over 20 senior leaders have already been appointed to various Boards, Corporations, and civic bodies.

CM Sai’s meeting with the top central leadership-though officially centred on discussions related to development, investment, education, public health, and Naxal eradication-held clear political subtext. Party sources say the leadership review included a performance audit of the governance team and discussions on aligning cabinet positions with ongoing political strategy and regional representation. Before leaving for Delhi, Kiran Singhdeo on Friday told the media persons at Swami Vivekananda Airport (SVA) that “an important meeting on organisational matters” was scheduled and that the expansion of the state unit will follow soon after.

BJP’s Organisation Secretary Pawan Sai also accompanied him, underlining the coordinated nature of the move. Among the most watched changes will be the appointment of two new general secretaries. These vacancies arose after Sanjay Srivastava was appointed as Chairman of the State Civil Supplies Corporation (NAN) and Jagdish Ramu Rohra took over as Mayor of Dhamtari. Both were holding powerful positions within the BJP state unit and their elevation has opened a competitive race for successors. Equally significant is the likely change of guard in the BJP Mahila Morcha. Incumbent state chief Shalini Rajput has been named Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board, which will necessitate her replacement.

Several influential women leaders have begun lobbying for the role. However, BJP sources clarify that no quota-based formula is being adopted for the appointments. Instead, the focus is on ideological commitment, performance record, and organisational discipline. The leadership, both at the Centre and in the state, is determined to ensure that the cabinet and party apparatus function in close synergy ahead of the next round of electoral battles, including local bodies and municipal corporations.
