Sanskardhani is all set to mark a historic moment two days from now, when Madhya Pradesh’s longest flyover, connecting Madan Mahal to Damon Naka, will be inaugurated. Union Minister for Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will dedicated the flyover to the public on Saturday.
To review preparations for the inauguration ceremony, State Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh, accompanied by public representatives and senior officials, conducted an inspection of the 7-km-long flyover on Wednesday.
Speaking to the mediapersons, Singh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 and with the immediate support of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, approval was granted for the project under the Central Road Fund. Several challenges arose during its construction, but each hurdle was resolved step by step and today the project stands completed.
He said the Rs 1,100 crore project is not only the longest flyover in Madhya Pradesh but also the country’s longest single-span cable-stayed bridge of 192 meters built over the railway line. Apart from that, three bowstring bridges, two at Renita and one at Aldeburgh have been constructed entirely of steel, each measuring around 70 meters.
Singh said for environmental development, nearly 50,000 saplings have been planted beneath the flyover. Facilities such as a basketball court, open-air
gyms and children’s parks have also been developed.
Ten direction boards have been installed across the stretch for commuters’ convenience. Highlighting benefits, Singh said that the journey between Madan Mahal and Damo Naka, which earlier took 40 to 45 minutes, will now be completed in just 6 to 8 minutes. The project will not only streamline traffic but also mark a milestone in Jabalpur’s transformation into a metropolitan hub. The PWD Minister appealed to the citizens to participate in large numbers in the grand inauguration ceremony. Those present were Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, MLA Ashok Rohani, BJP District President Ratnesh Sonkar, former MLA Sharad Jain, Collector Deepak Saxena, SP Sampat Upadhyay, Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav, Chief Engineer (PWD) R L Verma, SE Dinesh Kauras and NHAI Project Director Marital Sahu.
