Jabalpur is set to witness inauguration of Madhya Pradesh’s longest flyover on August 23. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will dedicate the flyover to the public, said State PWD Minister Rakesh Singh while addressing a meeting held at party’s divisional office to review preparations for the event. Addressing party workers from both urban and rural areas, Singh urged for collective participation to ensure that the people of Sanskardhani can witness the historic moment together. Singh recalled that the project had been part of his 2004 election manifesto and after years of struggle, the vision had finally materialised.

He said that the pace of development expedited after 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Singh said when Nitin Gadkari visited his residence, he requested him to sanction the flyover for Jabalpur. Despite several hurdles, the city has now received this major gift, Singh added. Highlighting the project’s significance, Singh said that the flyover includes the country’s largest cable-stayed bridge. He also mentioned other ongoing infrastructure works in the region including the Jabalpur-Bilaspur Highway and the coming logistics park. Singh further said that after Hyderabad, Jabalpur will have one of the largest ring roads in the country. Calling for mass participation, Singh said, on August 23 Jabalpurians will be eyewitnesses to the historic event. District BJP President Ratnesh Sonkar, MLA Rohani and Mayor Bahadur Singh also addressed the meeting.
