Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has expedited action against illegal colony development within city limits. In a major move on Friday, the JMC administration lodged FIRs against eight colonisers found guilty of developing colonies without mandatory approvals. Senior officials informed that recent inspections revealed that eight colonisers were developing residential colonies in Jabalpur without securing layout approval from the Joint Director, Town and Country Planning.

The colonies were established without obtaining a coloniser’s license or development permission, as required under the Madhya Pradesh Nagar Palika Colony Development Rules, 2021. Officials further stated that repeated notices had been served to the violators, but the colonisers failed to respond or produce any valid documents regarding the legality of their projects. The colonies were found to be in clear violation of state rules and norms.

Following these findings, the Municipal Corporation has written to the police administration to register FIRs under relevant sections of the Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1956 against all eight colonisers. Officials said the crackdown is part of an ongoing drive to curb unregulated urban expansion and protect homebuyers from fraudulent practices. Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (jmc) administration has also appealed to citizens to verify legal approvals before investing in any new housing projects.
