RAIPUR :
Raipur Police dismantled a major heroin distribution syndicate, arresting five individuals and seizing a significant quantity of the drug. The operation, a joint effort by the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and Kabirnagar Police Station, resulted in the recovery of 273.19 gram of heroin (chitta) with a retail value of approximately Rs 57 lakh.
The arrests were made following an intelligence tip-off about a person selling the Kabirnagar Police
Station area. A police
team, acting on the
information, apprehended the suspect,
identified as
Manmohan Singh
Sandhu alias Jaggu. A
search revealed he was
in possession of the
drug. During a strict
interrogation, Sandhu
confessed to his
involvement in the
syndicate. He revealed that he was supplied the drug by a smuggler
from Punjab and then distributed it to his local network, including
Vijay Motwani and Bhushan Sharma, for sale.
Based on this information, the police launched simultaneous raids
on multiple locations.
They arrested five more individuals, including Jaspreet Kaur, Sandhu’s wife, Vijay Motwani, Divya Jain, Nitin
Patel and Bhushan Sharma.
The raids led to the seizure of the heroin, five mobile phones, and
a two-wheeler used for distribution. The syndicate operated by using
video and location sharing to facilitate their transactions.
The police have registered cases against the accused under the
Narcotics
Act. In the Kabirnagar Police Station, a case has been registered under Sections 21B, 21(C), and 29 of the Narcotics Act, and
111 B.N.S. Accused Bhushan Sharma has also been arrested in connection with a separate case at the Kotwali Police Station under
Section 22B of the Narcotics Act.
This recent bust brings the total number of individuals arrested
by Raipur police for drug-related offenses to 34, with heroin worth
approximately Rs 1.57 crore seized to date. The operation was conducted under the directive of Inspector General of Police Amresh
Mishra and Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr. Lal Umed Singh,
who had instructed their teams to take effective action against drug
suppliers and their local networks.
