As of August 22, Madhya Pradesh has received 23% more rainfall than the Long Period Average (LPA) since the start of the monsoon on June 1. Both sub-regions of the State have recorded above-average rainfall. Eastern Madhya Pradesh stands at 24% above normal. Western Madhya Pradesh follows closely with a 22% surplus.
This consistent and widespread rainfall has not only revived monsoon momentum across the region but also supported agricultural activities, replenished water bodies, and cooled day-time temperatures across several districts.
The State continues to experience an active monsoon phase, with widespread rainfall, lightning and thunderstorm activity observed over the past 24 hours across the State. Most divisions including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Shahdol recorded rain at many to most places, while areas in Chambal and Rewa divisions saw more scattered rainfall. However, a few pockets in other divisions remained relatively dry.

Among the wettest locations were Badoda (148 mm), Karhal (98 mm), Jaora (96 mm), and Manasa (93 mm), making it a significant day for precipitation. Bhopal city itself received 28.2 mm, keeping
its seasonal total healthy at 792 mm since June 1. The days felt cooler, with Amarkantak at just 24.7°C and Pachmarhi at 26.2°C, while places like Khajuraho experienced the warmest day at 34.4°C. On the other end, Khandwa recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 18.0°C, giving residents a refreshing night, whereas Khajuraho and Gwalior recorded warm nights around 26.8°C and 26.4°C, respectively.
