In a significant political development, over 280 Congress leaders and workers from Bareli in Raisen district’s Udaipura Assembly constituency formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday at the party’s state headquarters in Bhopal.

The induction took place in the presence of BJP State President and MLA Hemant Khandelwal, State General Secretary (Organisation) Hitanand, and State Minister Narendra Shivaji Patel. The new members were welcomed with party stoles and formally enrolled through the BJP’s missed call membership drive. Prominent among those who joined were Rajesh Upadhyay, former Block Congress President; Aditya Sthapak, District Youth Congress General Secretary; Rajesh Pachauri, Makhan Dhakad, Ashok Ghanghoria, Suresh Dhamle (Retired DSP), Ramkishore Rajoriya, and Navneet Bhargav (Advocate).

Welcoming the new members, State BJP President Hemant Khandelwal said, “In the BJP, every worker, whether senior or junior, receives respect and responsibility. Our party values commitment on the ground, not just online visibility.” He added that many Congress workers had been loyal to their party but left because they felt unrecognised. “Congress today gives preference to social media activity over actual fieldwork, which has led to the weakening of their base.” Khandelwal further praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating that he is taking India to new heights globally. He also lauded Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav for accelerating infrastructure and industrial development in Madhya Pradesh. Speaking after his induction, Rajesh Upadhyay said,

“In Congress, ground-level workers are not acknowledged. That’s why I’ve decided to work under the leadership of PM Modi and help strengthen the nation and the BJP.” The event was also attended by several senior BJP leaders from Raisen, including Narayan Pastaria, Sunil Sharma, Anil Singh, Devendra Rajput, and others, who welcomed the influx of new members as a boost to the party’s strength in the region.
