The opening day of the Chhattisgarh Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan witnessed an overwhelming response, drawing more than 22,000 visitors who experienced State’s unique blend of heritage, industry, and tourism. The Pavilion, officially unveiled today within the Bharat Pavilion, marks Chhattisgarh’s week-long participation from August 24 to 30, 2025, on the invitation of the Indian Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), Government of India. Designed as an immersive experience, the Pavilion weaves together Chhattisgarh’s cultural richness, industrial strength, and tourism potential, offering global audiences a panoramic view of the state’s growth story. The Pavilion places special emphasis on the state’s thriving tourism landscape, known for its biodiversity, scenic beauty, and cultural legacy.

It showcases Nava Raipur, India’s first Greenfield Smart City, designed as an investor-ready hub for exponential industrial and economic growth. Visitors are also introduced to the majestic Chitrakoot Falls, celebrated as the widest waterfall in India and often hailed as the “Niagara of India.” Equally captivating is Sirpur, counted among the largest Buddhist sites in the country and dating back to the 8th century CE, which reflects the state’s deep spiritual and cultural heritage. Drawing a cultural parallel with Japan, the Pavilion underscores how Chhattisgarh draws inspiration from the teachings of Buddha, reflecting shared values of peace, inclusivity, and sustainability. The Pavilion highlights Chhattisgarh’s strategic central location, offering unmatched logistical advantages through its multimodal transport network. It further showcases the state’s growth across manufacturing, textiles, IT/ITeS, electronics, and Gramodyog, presenting investment-ready opportunities for global partners.

Artisanship remains a central theme of the Pavilion with exhibits such as Dhokra Art – a 4,000-year-old GI-tagged bell metal casting craft of Bastar, admired for its raw and rustic beauty. Kosa Silk – the Pavilion’s central attraction, symbolises Chhattisgarh’s cultural identity. Renowned for its natural shine, durability, and elegance, Kosa is woven from the Antheraea mylitta silkworm found in the forests of the state. A striking Kosa Art installation embodies the state’s ethos as harmonious balance of spirituality, nature, and development. With its spectacular opening and footfall, Chhattisgarh Pavilion has set the tone for a week-long showcase that celebrates cultural diversity while positioning the state as a rising hub for sustainable industrial progress and global investment opportunities.
