CHHATTISGARH’S international star shuttler, Aakarshi Kashyap has brought glory to the nation and the state clinching Bronze Medal at the Cameroon International Challenge 2025, a prestigious event in Badminton World Federation (BWF) International Challenge series.
The tournament held in Yaoundé, Cameroon from August 21 to 24, witnessed participation from top-ranked international players, making Aakarshi’s achievement a proud moment for the country. On her way to the bronze medal winning performance, Aakarshi defeated Gladys Mbabazi of Uganda (21-8, 21-7), Leila Zarrouk of Switzerland (21-13, 21-15), Aalisha Naik of India (21-13, 21-12) finally losing to Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan of Indonesia (16-21, 12-21).
Aakarshi, who hails from Chhattisgarh is supported under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of NTPC Korba, which aims to promote sporting talent and empower youth to achieve excellence in their respective fields.
Expressing her gratitude, Aakarshi said, “Winning the bronze medal at the Cameroon International Challenge is a proud moment for me. Competing against top players from around the world was challenging, but it motivates me to aim for even bigger victories. I am deeply thankful to NTPC Korba for their constant support and encouragement. Their belief in my potential inspires me to keep pushing forward.”
The Cameroon International Challenge 2025, part of the official BWF calendar, serves as an important platform for players to gain international ranking points. The tournament attracts elite shuttlers from several countries, making it a highly competitive event on the global badminton circuit.
