Nagpur Police have issued a strict public notice warning citizens not to feed stray dogs on roads or public places without permission. The order, issued by Commissioner of Police Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, states that legal action will be taken against anyone found feeding dogs in unauthorised areas.
This action comes after several complaints about stray dogs causing trouble to citizens, especially children and senior citizens, in many areas of the city.
The notice has been issued under Section 44 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, and aims to protect public safety and maintain law and order. This order is in effect from August 25, 2025.
According to the notice: Citizens should only feed stray dogs at spots officially approved by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Feeding dogs on roads, footpaths, or other public spaces is not allowed. Anyone found violating this rule will face legal consequences.
