UNBEATEN Dishank Bajaj emerged champion in the 4th Ganesh Ramkumar Soni Memorial Nagpur District Open Classical Chess Tournament that concluded at NDCA Hall, Sports complex, Dhanwate National College, Congress Nagar.
The event was organised by Nagpur District Chess Association. In all 71 players including 25 ELO rated players of various ages participated in this tournament. Total eight rounds were played.
Dishank Bajaj, with seven and a half points, was the clear winner and one full point ahead of the second-placed Kaustav Barat.
Half a dozen players ended with half dozen points in their kitty while four players accumulated 5.5 points.
Prizes were distributed at the hands of Rita Ganesh Soni, mother of Omprakash Soni. Other dignitaries present on the dais were Omprakash Soni and Sonal Soni. The programme was conducted by KK Barat, Secretary, NDCA.
IA Pravin Pantawane was Chief Arbiter of the tournament and was assisted by Dipak Patrikar and Dinesh Kokate.
