Angle Art Gallery hosts vibrant opening to month-long celebration
The Monsoon Festival at Aalag Angle Art Gallery, Hazaripahad, commenced on August 1 with a striking exhibition titled “Symphony with Serenity” by noted artist Pragya Rahane Besekar. The exhibition was inaugurated by Vijay Phanshikar, Editor of The Hitavada, and marks the beginning of a month-long series of monsoon-themed art displays.
Conceptualised and curated by Mili Vikamshi, the festival will run through August, featuring a new exhibition each week by different artists, all inspired by the beauty and moods of the rainy season.
Speaking at the inauguration, Pragya Rahane Besekar welcomed Vijay Phanshikar and introduced the theme of her work.
After viewing the paintings, Phanshikar commented, “When the monsoon arrives, nature transforms with new colours. Pragya’s paintings are a soulful expression of this transformation, capturing the dialogue between nature and the artist.”
Phanshikar added, “Before any art emerges, there is a silent space within the artist, whether poet, singer, or painter. From this silence, meaningful creation takes form. Pragya’s work beautifully celebrates the romance and richness of the monsoon.”
Quoting the Marathi line “Shravanmasi Harsha Manasi,” Pragya said, “Nature is an endless source of inspiration. Its colours, scents, and textures guide artistic thought. It’s essential that we live in harmony with nature and protect it.”
The event was attended by prominent artists including sculptors Hirachand Vikamshi, Tanul and Lalit Vikamshi, Nanu Nevare, Nana Misal, Arvind Kamble, Jayant Umredkar, and Ashish Wandile, along with several students and art lovers.
Symphony with Serenity will remain open for a week, and new monsoon-inspired exhibitions will follow throughout the month at Aalag Angle.
