TANVI Sukhdeo Dhurve, a student of class 10 of The Swaminarayan School, Wardhaman Nagar and a member of Roshan Swimming Club, has been selected in the Maharashtra team for the 51st National Water Polo Championship in the junior group to be held in Bangalore from August 4 to 8. Tanvi, who was selected in the Maharashtra team for the second time, has retained her place in the Maharashtra team. Representing Nagpur in the state-level tournament held in Pune from July 19 to July 21, she scored a total of 9 goals — 2 against Pune, 2 against Wardha and 5 against Mumbai, impressing the selectors.
 
For Maharashtra selection, a 10-day practice camp and trial camp was organised at Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal Swimming Hall in Amravati under the guidance of Dr Yogesh Nirmal, Sports Officer Sanjali Wankhede. Tanvi performed effectively during the camp and secured a place in the Maharashtra team. Also, Tanvi won a bronze medal in the 2x400 metre freestyle relay in the state-level junior swimming championship held in Pune. Tanvi practices under the guidance of national-level coach Roshan Chaudhary and Chhatrapati Awardee former Assistant Commander Naina Gokhale (Durne). Maharashtra Swimming Association Secretary Rajendra Palkar, Nagpur Swimming Association Secretary Nitin Malwade, Swaminarayan School Chairman Jignesh Patel, Principal Shweta Khandelwal, Physical Education Teacher Riyaz Qazi, Wardha Sports Officer Sandeep Khobragade, NIS coach Dr Pravin Lamkhade, Physio Dr Kevin Agarwal, Srihari Nair, Eastern Sport Club President Kishore Thutheja, Dr Jugal Tapadiya, Nirmal Soni, Ramavatar Agarwal, Yogesh Patel, NIT Swimming Pool Manager Prashant Ugemuge and others congratulated Tanvi on her selection in the team.
