IN A significant boost to regional economic development, Nitin Gadkari , Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways on Sunday inaugurated the new Vidarbha Zonal Office of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Nagpur.
Speaking at the inaugural event and conference titled ‘India@100: Charting Vidarbha’s Journey to a Developed India,’ the Union Minister said that Vidarbha will be a major contributor to realise Viksit Bharat by 2047, the vision to transform India into a developed nation.
“The future of Vidarbha lies in green industry and integrated logistics. Nagpur must become a model where infrastructure supports enterprise, and enterprise uplifts the last mile,” Gadkari stated.
Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis congratulated CII for opening the new CII Vidarbha Zonal Office. In his message, he acknowledged CII’s longstanding contribution to industrial policy and innovation.
Ajay Sancheti, former Member of Rajya Sabha urged all industrial associations in Vidarbha to become members of CII Nagpur Zone so their concerns and problems can to taken for consideration at Government level.
Rishi Kumar Bagla, Chairman, CII Western Region elaborated that the new CII Vidarbha Zonal Office reflects the industry body’s commitment to decentralised engagement and region-specific development. With Nagpur strategically located at the confluence of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, the office will act as a key platform for policy advocacy, industry-academia collaboration, and MSME competitiveness.
Shree Jamdar, Chairman, CII Vidarbha Zonal Council said, “Vidarbha’s growth must be inclusive by drawing strength from its MSMEs, youth, and rural economy.
CII will work towards unlocking local capacity and removing systemic barriers to growth.”
Satyanarayan Nuwal, Chairman and Non-Executive Director, Solar Industries India Ltd, said, “Vidarbha has talent and ideas, but we need to ensure access to capital, connectivity, and markets. CII’s presence will help bridge those gaps.”
Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur said, “We must prepare a future-ready workforce through strong linkages between academia and industry. CII and IIM Nagpur are aligned in their vision to nurture leadership and innovation in this region,” he added.
