AIIMS’ Associate Dean Dr Rupinder Kaur Kanwar named ‘biomedical research leader of the year-India Edition

 

 

Dr Rupinder Kaur Kanwar, Head of the Department of Translational Medicine and Associate Dean of Research at AIIMS Bhopal, has been honoured with the title of ‘Biomedical Research Leader of the Year, India’ under the prestigious Fortuna Global Excellence Awards, India Edition. In a major international recognition, Dr Kanwar has also been named in the Fortuna Global 100: The Power List 2025, which celebrates the world’s most influential figures in healthcare and biomedical innovation. The announcement was made at Times Square, New York, highlighting her global stature in the field. The Fortuna Global Excellence Awards are among the most respected international honours, known for their transparent selection process conducted by a panel of expert jurors.

 

Dr Kanwar has been included in this elite list for her visionary approach and value-based leadership in biomedical research. Fortuna Magazine described her as “a pioneering scientist advancing translational medicine in India, guiding future leaders with empathy, purpose, and precision.”

 

An internationally acclaimed researcher, Dr Kanwar has made significant contributions in nanomedicine, regenerative medicine, translational research, and drug discovery. Her academic portfolio includes over 300 research works, comprising 133 high-impact journal articles, 26 book chapters, and 22 international patents registered across the USA, Europe, Australia, Canada, Singapore, and New Zealand. Currently leading efforts to strengthen translational research at AIIMS Bhopal, Dr Kanwar launched India’s first MSc in Translational Medicine programme in 2024. She is also credited with developing innovative research and diagnostic platforms that align local healthcare needs with global scientific standards.
