DURG,
The Dewangan family living in village Mohlai of Durg district is not only availing free electricity by installing solar panels under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, but is also getting relief from electricity bills.
Where earlier the huge electricity bill used to worry them every month, now there is a smile of relief on their face.
Anita Devangan’s husband is also interested in modern technologies. Anita said that she has installed a 6-kilowatt solar panel on the roof of her house, the total cost of which was about Rs 3 lakh. Under this scheme, she also got a subsidy of Rs 75 thousand from the central government, which reduced the cost even more. Earlier, the electricity bill used to be 4 to 5 thousand rupees in summer.
In the rest of the season, a bill of up to Rs 2500 had to be paid. But now for the last six months, the electricity bill has been coming zero. There are 4 ACs, 3 TVs and other electrical appliances running in their house, yet due to solar energy they do not have to worry about the electricity bill.
Anita’s husband Harihar Prasad Dewangan runs an auto parts shop in Navapara. This initiative has brought great relief to the Dewangan family. Their home requirement is only two KV right now, they plan to sell the remaining KV to the government to earn money. Now the money that was earlier spent on electricity bill, they can spend it on children’s education and other important household works.
