A brass idol of Buddha and a donation box were stolen by unidentified thieves from a Buddha Vihar in New Chaitanya Nagar, under the Jaripatka Police Station area. According to Police Inspector Arun Kshirsagar, the theft took place late at night when the Buddha Vihar was closed, and no one was present. The thief entered the temple by breaking the latch and took the Buddha idol, as well as the donation box.

 

The theft was discovered in the morning when a resident noticed the broken latch. PI Kshirsagar added that there were no people in the Buddha Vihar at the time of the theft, and there is no CCTV footage available. “We have filed a case of theft and are investigating to find the thief,” he said.
