A 19-year-old college student, Surabhi Sondhia, was found dead by suicide at her home in Gwal Mohalla, Roshanpura, under the Arera Hills police station area on Thursday night. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, leaving the reason for her death unclear. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

 

According to police, Surabhi, a first-year BA student at MLB College, had reportedly been suffering from depression since the death of her father approximately three years ago. On Thursday night, she was alone at home when her mother had stepped out. Upon returning, her mother found the door locked from inside. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to open it, she sought help from neighbours and alerted the police.

 

Police personnel, with the assistance of neighbours, forced open the door and found Surabhi’s body hanging. The body was taken into custody, and a thorough search of the room was conducted, but no suicide note was found.

Her body was sent for post-mortem examination at Hamidia Hospital on Friday and subsequently handed over to her family. Police stated that they are currently recording statements.
