In a major breakthrough, Sanjeevani Nagar police nabbed five accused involved in drug trafficking and seized 61.54 kg ganja amounting to Rs 12.30 lakh, two cars, six mobile phones and Rs 2,000 cash from them.
The accused have been identified as Amit Chandravanshi (31), son of Gaukarn Chandravanshi, a resident of Palagauda village, Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh, Hiran Prakash Khandey (31), son of Poonaram Khandey, a resident of Palagauda village in Chhattisgarh, Rakesh Kumar Tandon (28), son of Malikram Tandon, resident of Dhanoura village, Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh,
Ajay Jaiswal (26), son of Ramesh Jaiswal, resident of Gokuldham Colony, Kawardha district in Chhattisgarh and Akbar Khan (35), son of Siddiq Khan, resident of Pipariya Nagar Panchayat, Kawardha district in Chhattisgarh.
Additional SP (City) Anand Kaladagi (IPS) while addressing a press conference, on Friday, disclosed that, on Thursday night, Sanjeevani Nagar Police received a tip-off that near the Bahdan underbridge on Andhmukh Bypass Service Road, five suspects in two cars were trying to sell ganja.
Police immediately acted under NDPS Act provisions and raided the location near
Oriental College at Bahdan under-bridge. In the raid, police team nabbed all the five men sitting in two cars. In their search, police seized 61.54 kg ganja worth Rs 12.30 lakh, two cars, six mobile phones and Rs 2,000 cash from them.
The narcotic consignment was seized by police team led by SHO, Sanjeevani Nagar, B D Dwivedi comprised of SI Dinesh Gautam, Prabhat Mudiya, ASI Hriday Narayan Pandey, ASI Ajay Kumar Pandey, Head Constable Dilip Pathak, constables Rajneesh Yadav, Akash Pandey and
Virendra. In the ongoing campaign against narcotics trade, from January 1, 2025 to August 8, 2025, police have arrested 186 accused involved in drug trafficking and seized total 978.471 kg of ganja worth approximately Rs 1.95 crore and 74 grams of smack worth Rs 7.4 lakh.
