As Madhya Pradesh prepares to celebrate Raksha Bandhan on Saturday, the weather across the state remains active under monsoon influence, with many districts receiving significant rainfall on Friday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to very heavy rain was recorded at various locations, especially in the Rewa division and thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely to impact parts of the state on August 9. In the past 24 hours, heavy to moderate rainfall was reported in Rewa
(102.2 mm), Barhai (76 mm), Hanumana (72 mm), Mauganj (66.4 mm), Naigarhi (50 mm), Rampur Baghelan (47.3 mm), Barhi (47 mm), Semariya (42 mm), Gudh and Sirmaur (35 mm each), Chanderi and Churhat (25 mm each), and several others. Areas such as Satna (26.7 mm), Majhauli (21 mm), Sidhi (14.2 mm), Khaniyadana, Pohri, Chandia, Katangi, Umaria-Bandhavgarh, and Balaghat also recorded light to moderate rainfall. The maximum temperature in the state reached 35.6°C in Khajuraho, while Pachmarhi recorded the lowest at 25.6°C. On the other hand, Gwalior saw the highest minimum temperature at 27.9°C, while Pachmarhi had the lowest at 19.6°C. Maximum temperatures remained above normal across most districts, especially in Bhopal, Ujjain, Shahdol, and Indore divisions.
