Governor Mangubhai Patel praised the PM Janman Yojana as a landmark initiative aimed at the welfare and upliftment of tribal communities. He stressed that the success of this scheme depends not only on government efforts but also on active community participation, urging affluent sections to support improving housing quality. During a progress review at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, Governor Patel, along with Principal Secretary Dr. Navneet Mohan Kothari, called for strong administrative oversight to ensure the use of quality construction materials and thorough supervision. He encouraged innovation, local cooperation, and the use of eco-friendly building materials, while emphasizing that housing durability must not be compromised. The Governor highlighted the scheme’s focus on benefiting the poorest tribal families first, ensuring that houses are sturdy and user-friendly.

He advised officials to inspect construction sites regularly and guide beneficiaries on site selection, house design, and material quality. Officials reported initiatives to involve self-help groups in producing bricks and efforts to source local materials to reduce costs. District-level price controls have also been introduced to keep construction affordable. Environmentally friendly building practices are being promoted as part of the program. Also present at the meeting were Additional Secretary Umashankar Bhargav, Additional Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Dinesh Jain, Secretary of the Tribal Cell Jamuna Bhide, and other officials.
