Haldiram Foods & GoDaddy reach settlement in trademark dispute over domain names

Haldiram Foods had approached the court against GoDaddy over the registration of several domain names allegedly misusing its brand name
A trademark dispute between Haldiram Foods International Pvt Ltd and GoDaddy.com LLC has been amicably settled before the Mediator, District Judge-3, Nagpur. The matter was registered as Suit Trade Mark Act No. 03/2025 along with Civil M.A. No. 523/2025. Haldiram Foods had approached the court against GoDaddy over the registration of several domain names allegedly misusing its brand name.
As per the joint pursis submitted by both parties, GoDaddy has agreed to suspend the disputed domain names in India whenever specific court orders are issued. The defendant also undertook to provide complete registrant and payment details of the impugned domain names, whether registered in India or abroad, upon directions from the court. Furthermore, GoDaddy will not contest applications filed by Haldiram that seek suspension of domain names registered in India or disclosure of registrant information. GoDaddy is also required to update the court on compliance with orders passed in this regard.
Haldiram Foods has agreed to withdraw Civil M.A. No. 523/2025, which was a contempt application, but retained the right to file fresh contempt proceedings in case of any future non-compliance. Both parties also agreed to modify the operative part of the earlier order dated May 3, 2025 to include the suspension of the disputed domain names.
The settlement means that the ongoing trademark case will be put on hold once both parties officially sign the agreed terms. The proceedings were represented by Haris Khan, Counsel for Haldiram Foods and Saurav Rajurkar, Counsel for GoDaddy.com LLC.
