As expected, transfer orders of 14 IAS officers, including the collectors of five major districts, Indore, Jabalpur, Katni, Barwani and Agar Malwa, came late night on Monday. This administrative shuffle coupled with IAS award to 16 State Administrative Services officers and transfer of 20 IPS officers. These appointments reflect the State’s ongoing efforts to enhance governance, improve administrative efficiency and strengthen public service delivery. It has also marked with interesting facts that two married couples, assuming critical new roles at the same day and date. Shivam Verma, who was earlier the Commissioner of Indore municipal corporation, has been appointed the new Collector of Indore. His wife, Jayati Singh, has also been appointed Collector of Barwani.
 
The couple made a special visit to the Khajrana Ganesh Temple before assuming their new roles, marking a rare occasion when husband and wife serve as district collectors simultaneously in different districts. Adding to a rare incident within the bureaucracy, Rakesh Kushre and Nanda Bhalave Kushre, a couple serving in the State Civil Services, were jointly promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) on September 8. This simultaneous elevation of both spouses is an uncommon occurrence that has drawn significant attention across administrative circles. In another major change, Ashish Singh is back to Ujjain. This 2010-batch IAS officer and former Collector of Indore, has been promoted and appointed as the Commissioner of Ujjain Division.
 
He brings with him significant administrative experience, having held key positions in districts such as Indore and Ujjain. Recently, he was also assigned the additional charge of Mela Adhikari, indicating his possible role in overseeing logistical and administrative aspects as the state begins early preparations for the upcoming Simhastha in 2028. These appointments come at a pivotal time for Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the Government’s broader commitment to strengthening governance, enhancing administrative efficiency, and ensuring capable leadership across key districts. While the upcoming Simhastha festival is an important event on the state’s calendar, the changes also signal a focus on sustainable development, effective public service delivery, and improved co-ordination across departments in the months and years ahead.
