Jabalpur has once again showcased its leadership in environmental conservation by securing second position in the Swachh Vayu Survekshan, conducted under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).
At a national-level ceremony held in Delhi, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav
praised Jabalpur’s consistent progress in the fields of green initiatives,
public awareness campaigns and infrastructure development. He described the achievement as ‘historic’ and urged other cities to follow Jabalpur’s example.
The Union Minister lauded the city’s Green City and Clean City campaigns, crediting them for raising awareness and improving urban air quality. He also acknowledged the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav in promoting nationwide cleanliness and environmental drives.
During the ceremony, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh and Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav were felicitated on stage for their outstanding contribution. The Government of India also awarded Rs 1 crore to Jabalpur Municipal Corporation under NCAP in recognition of its achievements.
Senior officials including Rajesh Verma, Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas and Tanmay Kumar, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, congratulated the Mayor, Municipal Commissioner and the Jabalpur team including Sambhav Ayachi, Nodal Officer for the Clean Air Programme and Abhinav Mishra, Nodal Officer of the Sanitation Cell.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Jagat Bhadur Singh said that Jabalpur is steadily advancing and setting new benchmarks.
He highlighted that the city recently secured 5th place nationally in the Swachh Survekshan and now with the second position in the Clean Air Survey, Jabalpur has achieved another milestone.
The Mayor further noted that multiple initiatives including massive plantation drives, creation of green walls and pathways, dust-free roads, new parks and deployment of
de-fogger machines have played a
crucial role in improving air quality. He assured that the Municipal Corporation would continue
working for the health and well being of citizens.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Sanskardhani, both the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner appealed for continued public support in coming cleanliness and environmental campaigns, so that the city can remain a national role model in sustainable urban development.
