SKIPPER Atharva Taide led from the front with a big hundred as Vidarbha ended Day 1 of their four-day match of the K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament against KSCA President’s XI with 320-4 on the board on Tuesday.
Electing to bat first, Taide lost his opening partner R Sanjay (1) early but forged a 133-run partnership with Aman Mokhade (60, 92 balls, 4x7, 6x1) for the second wicket. Even though Vidarbha lost Mohd Faiz for (10) cheaply, Taide and Shivam Deshmukh added 142 runs for the fourth wicket to put their team on top.
Taide fell for a splendid 170, which came off 264 balls with 17 boundaries and five sixes. Deshmukh was unbeaten on 58 in the company of Yash Kadam (14*).
