The arrested has been identified as Ashish Mishra (36), son of Santosh Mishra, a resident of Lalmati, behind Shukla Hotel in Ghamapur. Additional SP (Zone-2), Pallavi Shukla, while addressing a press conference, on Friday, informed that police received information that a man named Ashish Mishra, who is known to sell illegal pistols, reached to supply consignment of firearms near Andhmukh Bypass bus stop.

The informer also described his appearance and clothing and stated he had arrived on a Honda Shine motorcycle. Acting promptly on the information, the team informed senior officials and laid a trap near the bus stop. The suspect, matching the given description, was seen standing with a bag near the passenger shelter. He was surrounded and apprehended on the spot. On searching him, police found a country-made pistol loaded with two live cartridges tucked into his waist and four more pistols hidden inside the bag on his motorcycle.

All weapons and the bike were seized immediately and he was taken into custody. ASP Shukla revealed that Ashish Mishra is a habitual offender involved in illegal arms supply. Earlier, on June 1, 2025, a youth was caught in Belbagh area with 20 live cartridges. During interrogation, he disclosed that he had procured them from Ashish Mishra. Following this lead, police had also caught Mishra red-handed with 3 pistols and 9 cartridges in a previous raid. Furthermore, four cases are already registered against him at Ghamapur Police Station.
