In a significant crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, Ratibad Police personnel have arrested a woman from Mugalia Chhap village for selling country-made liquor. Based on a tip-off received on Wednesday,

September 10, police raided the premises and seized 325 quarters (58.5 litres) of illicit liquor hidden underground in plastic tanks and containers, with an estimated market value of Rs 32,000. Acting swiftly on the information, the police team, under the guidance of DCP Ashutosh Gupta, Additional DCP Zone-1 Rashmi Agrawal Dubey, and ACP TT Nagar Ankita Khaterkar, was led by Ratibad SHO U. N. I. Ras Bihari Sharma.

The woman was found selling liquor from her home, where she had cleverly concealed the stock beneath the floor near her kitchen and goat shelter. Upon questioning, she initially gave misleading answers but later revealed the hiding spots. The accused was arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act.

She has since been presented before the court and sent to judicial custody. Police records show that the accused has prior offences registered against her, including illegal liquor sale and assault, both at Ratibad and Khajuri Sadak police stations. Commissioner of Police Harinarayanachari Mishra and Additional Commissioner Awadhesh Goswami had earlier directed intensified action against illegal liquor networks.
