Jabalpur’s newly appointed Collector Raghvendra Singh, is continuing to make his presence felt with a series of surprise inspections. On Saturday morning, the administrative staff was caught off guard when the Collector conducted an unannounced visit to Rani Durgavati (Elgin) Hospital, one of the city’s key medical facilities.

 

The early morning arrival, without any prior notification, caused a stir among the hospital’s staff. During his visit, Collector Singh meticulously inspected various hospital departments, including Maternity ward, Neonatal unit and other Outpatient Department (OPD) areas. Rather than simply observing the facilities, he engaged directly with patients and their families. The Collector, Singh inquired about the healthcare services, conduct of doctors and other medical staff and inconveniences the patients were facing with the available amenities.

 

Several patients reported deficiencies in certain services, to which the Collector promptly issued directives to the concerned officials. Singh strictly directed the hospital staff to ensure cooperative attitude with the patients as they arrive the hospital with the hope of better treatment to get rid of their sufferings. Hence the staff must ensure that the patients would not face any kind of trouble in the premise. He emphasised the importance of working with sensitivity and a sense of responsibility toward the patients.

 

He also issued a stern warning, stating that any complaints of negligence would be met with strict action. The surprise inspection revealed certain shortcomings, particularly concerning cleanliness and record maintenance. The Collector has instructed the hospital management to address these issues immediately and submit a compliance report within a specified timeframe. This visit was viewed as a reflection of his administrative approach, which prioritizes on-ground reality over procedural paperwork.
