The Bhilai Municipal Corporation is witnessing sharp internal rifts, with factional politics within the Congress affecting coordination between corporators and the Mayor.

Tensions erupted during Friday’s Mayor-in-Council meeting when Ward 21 corporator and MIC member Neha Sahu, who heads the
Environment and Horticulture Department, clashed with officials over roadwork in her area.
Sahu alleged that murum was spread on Mahavir Marg in Kailash Nagar without her knowledge, leading to poor road conditions during rains. Residents of New Housing Board and Kailash Nagar complained to her that the road had become muddy and difficult to use.

conspiring to tarnish her image, she walked out of the meeting, warning that unless strict action was taken against those responsible, she would resign from her MIC post.
Speaking to reporters, Sahu said,
“We are elected representatives. People of the ward come to us first when they face problems. If corporators are not informed about works in their own areas, then who will be? This is clearly an attempt to defame me.” Her strong protest has highlighted the widening gap between the Mayor, officials, and MIC members.
